Leaders Can Drive the Nation

 

The first responsibility of a leader is to define reality. The last is to say thank you. In between, the leader is a servant. —Max DePree

I am seriously inspired by this quote because Leader is a Servant as he/she eventually works for the people’s growth. Few poor incidents about leaders have broken me and I am seriously worried about how our country will prosper?

Some Traits One Leader must possess:

1. He/she must focus on other’s development

He/she is leader so it is his/her’s responsibility to develop the nation. If he will work on only his development his followers would suffer gravely. He must be an example to his followers.

2. He/she must be selfless

World says that one must be selfish but leader has to be selfless in the development and in the growth of his country. He is the one who can bring the change in the country as a large (Positive or Negative).  So, if you are a leader think on which perspective you want to make change.

3. He/she must be easily available to solve doubts

I have gone through many scenarios in which leaders, mentors or bosses are not available when the followers need them the most. They say they are busy or their team replies etc. But “dear leader” if you are his/her mentor you have to be with them and with more enthusiasm you must solve doubts and make them learn. It is the ethical responsibility of yours. If you won’t be available at the right time than your followers will be demoralized.

4. Make being on time a priority

I have seen worst scenarios that when leader teaches punctuality than it is specified by default that he/she has to follows it first. Many feel that if they can make people wait, they are the great leaders or best mentors and it will prove that they are busy. “A big NO” on this because if you are not available on time given or an appointment then do you think others will respect you? So firmly believe that to make our Nation proud please respect time. If you cannot be on time than think on how can country grow?

5. Do something that inspires others

Followers are keen observers first. They will follow each small or big action done by leaders. They will see if you are rude or polite, your behavior with your colleagues and clients, your kindness, your truthfulness etc. Whatever it may be good or bad it is in your hand. They will behave with you in the same you behaved with them. Make it a disclaimer of this.

6. Make them realize

Make them realize that they have moral duty towards building a better nation and not only their personal growth. Because helping will build great minds and will sharpen the abilities. Do not make people work under you, but let them work with you.

I believe that all above skills are the priority for great leadership than comes motivation, knowledge, confidence, charismatics, smartness etc. A leader must teach moral values too. He/she is the one who will route our country and then world to the bright side. So, cheers to you leaders. Let us support each other and create magic.

कर्मणैव हि संसिद्धिमास्थिता जनकादय: |
लोकसंग्रहमेवापि सम्पश्यन्कर्तुमर्हसि ||
यद्यदाचरति श्रेष्ठस्तत्तदेवेतरो जन: |
स यत्प्रमाणं कुरुते लोकस्तदनुवर्तते ||

By performing their given duties, King Janak and others(leaders) attained perfection. You should also perform your work to set an example for the good of the world. Whatever actions great persons perform, common people follow. Whatever standards they set; all the world chases.
