Navratri is one of the most propitious and
important festivals among Hindus. It is considered to symbolize the success of
good over evil. The nine-day festival is dedicated to worshiping the nine
avatars of Maa Durga and ends on Vijay Dashami with the involvement of idols of
the goddess. The nine avatars of Maa Durga are worshiped on 9 days, so a
particular color is considered auspicious for each of the 9 days. The
significance of 9 days of Navratri is very auspicious.
Day 1 : Maa Shailputri is adored on this day.
The color of the first day of Navratri is white. That makes the sense of inner
peace and security.
Day 2 : Maa Brahmacharini is worshiped on the
2nd day. Red is the color of the second day. The color of love and passion, red
fills a person with stamina and energy.
Day 3: Maa Chandraghanta is worshiped on this day.
The color of the third day of Navratri is Royal Blue. This bright shade of blue
represents wealth and peace.
Day 4 : This day, Maa Kushmanda is worshipped.
The color of the fourth day is yellow. It is a warm color that keeps one joyful
throughout the day.
Day 5 : Maa Skandamata is worshiped on fifth
day. Green is the color for day fifth. Green represents a new beginning in
life. Green even represents the internal healing.
Day 6 : On sixth day, Maa Katyayani is prayed
to. The color of this day is grey. This color represents balanced emotions and
keeps a person down to earth.
Day 7 : Maa Kalaratri is worshiped on the
seventh day. The color of the seventh day is orange. This color is full of
positive energy and keeps one optimistic.
Day 8: Maa Mahagauri is worshiped on the eighth
day of Navratri. Peacock green is the color of the day. Peacock green stands
for kindness and freshness.
Day 9 : On the ninth day, Maa Siddhidatri is
worshipped. The color of the ninth day is pink. Pink symbolizes universal love,
friendliness and harmony.
The world we live in is a fast-paced world where
there is hardly any time for oneself. The nine days of Navratri are designed to
melt away the exhaustion and fatigue of the year and restore mental coolness. A
deep body-mind detox is possible within a period of just nine days if one takes
some care to follow a “Sattvic Diet” and meditate regularly.
